The Host

The Host by Stephenie Meyer My rating: 5 of 5 stars Look, I'm not going to pretend like there aren't practical issues with this book, but I think Stephenie Meyer's novels can only be enjoyed by people who can appreciate a little impracticality sometimes. This is one of my favs. ❧ View all my Goodreads "reviews."

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones My rating: 5 of 5 stars I adore the Howl's Moving Castle series. I discovered it by accident in middle school when my library gave away a free copy of Castle in the Air . I absolutely loved it, and it wasn't until I was rewatching Miyazaki's HMC film for the umpteenth time several years later that I actually paid attention to the "based on the novel" message at the beginning and realized it was the same author as Castle in the Air . Then, I discovered I had unknowingly read a sequel novel before ever reading the first novel! I read HWC , reread Castle , and promptly discovered House of Many Ways . Life hasn't been the same since. This is one of my favorite series of all time. I have to reread or relisten to each of the three books every year or so, and each time, I notice something I never did before. These are the only Diana Wynne Jones novels I've read (so far), but her writing genuinely amazes
